A child with congenital myelomeningocele was still incontinent after undergoing repair surgery at Guangdong Children’s Hospital when they were one month old. At the age of two, to treat the incontinence, the child came to our hospital, where they were diagnosed with neurogenic bladder, post-myelomeningocele repair, tethered cord syndrome, and spina bifida. On August 12, they successfully underwent an artificial somatic-autonomic reflex pathway surgery (Xiao procedure) and have since been discharged. The family, grateful for the child’s recovery, made a special banner in appreciation. When the little one was first admitted, their legs were swollen and weak, with a risk of paralysis and deformity. Fortunately, the swelling gradually subsided and the legs straightened after timely surgery, slowly revealing the boy’s mischievous energy.
